The State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission (SCDRC) is a key forum in India’s three-tier consumer dispute redressal system, functioning under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. It handles cases where the claim value is above ₹50 lakh and up to ₹2 crore, and also hears appeals against District Consumer Commission orders.


Jurisdiction of the SCDRC:

  • Original Jurisdiction:
    For complaints with a value exceeding ₹50 lakh and up to ₹2 crore.

  • Appellate Jurisdiction:
    Appeals against orders passed by District Consumer Commissions.

  • Revisionary Jurisdiction:
    Review of decisions to ensure proper application of law by District Commissions.
